Compassionate and Innovative Support for Your Ideal Birth
If you're expecting, congratulations! This is an exciting and wonderful time in your life. I can help you make the most of this time by offering counseling, compassion, and practical innovative solutions to the challenges you may face before, during, and after the birth of your tiny new bundle.
I have a bachelor's degree in biology and training in emergency medicine, so I can offer information and guidance for the medical aspects of pregnancy, labor, and birth. Additionally, my training through Doulas of North America and the Academy of Certified Childbirth Educators inspired me to have a profound respect for all that moms can do naturally, with proper guidance and support.
I would love to offer the guidance and support you need to achieve your ideal birthing experience!

What Are Doulas, Anyway?
Doulas are professional educators and care providers who attend to the physical and emotional needs of moms and their support persons before, during, and after labor. We are experts in helping you and your growing family to have a comfortable pregnancy and a rewarding birth.
|
Studies have shown that having a doula present at your birth can lead shorter labors, less discomfort, and less need for medical intervention. Women and men who have worked with doulas tend to have more positive birth experiences, regardless of whether they planned a high-intervention or low-intervention birth.
|
What do Doulas do Exactly?
A good doula will employ a variety of tactics to help parents have more rewarding births. Many doulas are trained in a variety of methods, including labor massage, strategic labor and birth positions, breathing techniques, and special comfort measures such as the use of labor hydrotherapy. Doulas work with clients in advance to ensure an effective birth plan and comfort plan are in place.
|
Doulas also work alongside dads and other loved ones to give them periods of rest (...and reminders to eat) - dads work hard, tool! Many dads find that with the guidance and support of a doula to make sure their own needs are met, they have a more rewarding and intimate experience with their partners and newborns.
